Can't Stop, Won't Stop Yarn Bombing the Garden

Every year when I put up trellises in the garden, I always think that with all the yarn in my house, there has to be something more creative I could come up with. So this year, I'm tackling just that.

It started with a knitted pea trellis. I used a drop stitch lace pattern. It's working very well! Then I decided to take things to another dimension. I loved string art as a kid, so I incorporated it into this bean trellis.

Continuing with the string art, this weekend, I completed new tomato cages.

Stay tuned to see how they work out as things grow!

  2. This is the coolest gardening thing I have ever stumbled on. What kind of yarn/rope are you using. Everything always stretches out on me. Thanks

    1. I use either acrylic yarn, or coated gardening twine, depending on the project. The yarn will stretch a little, but tightens back up while drying in the sun. The twine is a little trickier to get tight, but stays tight, and lasts longer.

    1. I use acrylic yarn. Lasts for quite a while. My first trellis is on it's 6th year, and looks the same!

  6. These are amazing ideas! Could you share approximately how tall your bean trellis stakes are and how many holes you used? I'd love to try to recreate something similar this year. When you say you use Acrylic yarn - just standard knitting yarn, or from the hardware store?

  7. Hi Katie! I just stumbled across this trellis and am in LOVE. I noticed that last year you mentioned maybe getting this pattern posted; have you had any luck? I would love to try it.
    Thanks, Kristi
